The High Cost of Socialism

Current European individual tax rates (2010) Max Income Rate and VAT:

United Kingdom          Income Tax:  50%     VAT:  17.5%   TOTAL:  67.5%
France
                         Income Tax:  41%     VAT:  19.6%   TOTAL:  60.6%
Germany                     Income Tax: 45%     VAT: 19%      TOTAL: 64%
Greece                        Income Tax:  40%    VAT:  21%      TOTAL:  61%
Spain                           Income Tax:  45%    VAT:  18%      TOTAL:  63%
Portugal                      Income Tax:  42%     VAT:  21%      TOTAL:  63%
Sweden                       Income Tax:  55%     VAT:  25%      TOTAL:  80%
Norway                       Income Tax:  54.3%  VAT:  25%      TOTAL:  79.3%
Netherlands               Income Tax:  52%     VAT:  19%      TOTAL:  71%
Italy                            Income Tax: 45%     VAT: 20%            TOTAL: 65%
Denmark                    Income Tax:  58%     VAT:  25%      TOTAL:  83%
Finland                        Income Tax:  53%     VAT:  23%      TOTAL:  76%

By comparison:

United States             Income Tax: 35%    VAT:    0%            TOTAL: 35%

(You might say, but in the U.S. we have local sales taxes, yes we do but these are local; in Europe there are also local taxes of many forms in addition to the VAT. Furthermore, in the U.S. we have a variety of additional taxes you might not notice on all your utility bills; excise, franchise, access, usage, etc. taxes.)

When they say you work through mid-May to pay your taxes (assuming your 1 of the 50% that actually pays Federal income taxes) for the year they’re right, but in Europe you’d work through August to pay your taxes! Think about it. Is this what you want for your children and grandchildren?

If you've started to wonder what the real costs of socialism are going to be, once the full program in the United States is in place, take a look at the above.  As you digest these mind-boggling figures, keep in mind that, in spite of these astronomical tax rates, these countries are still NOT financing their social welfare programs exclusively from tax revenues!  They are deeply mired in public debt of gargantuan proportions.  Greece has reached the point where its debt is so huge it nearly defaulted on it’s debt and is still not out of the woods.  That is the reason the European Economic Community has had to intervene to bail them out.  If you're following the financial news, you know Spain and Portugal are potentially right behind Greece. The EU has had to take some dramatic steps to try to keeps Greece’s financial problems for “snow balling” across Europe.

The United States is now heading down this same path, championed by the current Administration and Congressional Leadership.  The VAT tax in the table is the National Sales Tax that every European pays, regardless of income, and is included in the price of goods and services.  Stay tuned because that is exactly what you can expect to see this Administration and current Congressional Leadership proposing after the fall elections, if they stay in power.  The initial percentage in the United States isn't going to be anywhere near the outrageous numbers you now see in Europe.  The current outrageous numbers in Europe didn’t start out as outrageous either.

The Liberal Left Politicians will want to start out around 1% or 2% in the United States saying it isn’t that much and look at all the good that can be done (meaning: spending more of the taxpayer’s money irresponsibly). The Politicians say it’s not that much and promise they won’t get higher (meaning: for a while).

People from around the world, your and my ancestors, came to America with the expectation that with hard work and perseverance, anybody can get ahead economically, unlike in their native country.  Do you think that can ever happen with tax rates between 60% and 80%?   With the Government taking that percentage of your money, your life will be exactly like life in Europe, from which our ancestors fled.  It will be extremely difficult in Middle America be able to buy a home, buy a car, or send your children to college.

So don’t ignore the battle cry of the Socialists and pay no heed to it.  It’s always the same cry.

-         Equalize income.

-         Spread the wealth to the poor (whoever they are).

-         Level the economic playing field.

-         Accomplish that and everything will be rosy.

Yea right, what it really means is the Government controls you all your life. Those that work, pay the bills of those that don’t want to. And innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and personal success are DEAD.

The Government will tell you and your children what job you can have, where to work, if you can go to college, where to live, etc. They are already trying to do that now, just raise your head and look around. Subtly now, they are taking baby steps to their goal’s end,

-         Realize that the Government now controls who can get college loans,

-         Cap-and-Trade will be used to tell you how to live,

-         Obama-Care will decide who qualifies to get medical care,

-         Financial Reform determines who get loans and which banks can operate where, ignore Fannie and Freddie issues,

-         DOJ directed to selectively apply Civil Rights laws for African American victims only,

-         "Card Check" ensures mobster tactics to intimidate employees to sign cards forcing everyone into the Union Culture.

Unions are the biggest promoters of socialism philosophy where they place every worker in a slot and they stay in line to await their next raise/upgrade, personal initiative is dealt with harshly, mindless and brain dead after a few years the worker just stays in line through life. What a waste. And if you objectively look at the job drain from America overseas, labor unions are a prime cause for this coupled with Government policy toward business.

It’s time to take a hard look at reality. Greece is a perfect example and Unions control most of the labor force. Despite the socialism system that has ruled that country for decades, with a 65% tax rate, they are drowning in public debt, would have defaulted without hundreds of billions in bailout money, and still 20% of their population lives in abject poverty. What has all that socialism money bought, besides ultimate power for the politicians running the show? Do you think these people are "free"?   They are slaves to their economic "system"!

From a study by the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, at the end of fiscal 2007 the budget deficit stood at 1.2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP); by the end of 2009 it had increased to 9.9% of GDP; the continuation of current fiscal policies will lead to a national debt in the range of 90% of GDP by 2020. We cannot afford this!

Hopefully, something will be done about this soon - - please vote in November!!!!

Mark your calendars now; if there’s a chance you’ll be out of town, absentee vote NOW.

Obama Exhibits His Hypocrisy

President Barack Obama told University of Michigan graduates May 2, 2010 the “over-the-top rhetoric” in the country’s political debate undermines chances for compromise and hinders the search for solutions.  I wonder if his teleprompter, and you know he has to have one to be able to speak coherently, had a mirror on it?

I think he failed to mention that shutting out the minority Party because you have a “super” majority does not lend itself to bi-Partisan politics or compromise. Anyone who listens to C-SPAN and watched the Health Care debate, or any other debate, on the Senate floor quickly realize that the Democrats were “stonewalling” the Republicans because they knew they could ram-rod their bill through the Senate. He calls for bi-Partisan legislation but that has come to mean only if the other side accepts our position unconditionally.

“We can’t expect to solve our problems if all we do is tear each other down,” the president said…

I find it interesting that Obama is calling for civility when he himself, along with his Liberal Left cohorts in Congress, has had many colorful descriptors of the Tea Party demonstrators whose demographics have shown that Tea Partiers are centered in Mid America and are citizens exercising their Constitutional rights of FREE SPEECH and critique of their Government.

He goes on to say “We know that too much government can stifle competition and deprive us of choice and burden us with debt,” he said. “But we’ve also clearly seen the dangers of too little government - like when a lack of accountability on Wall Street nearly leads to the collapse of our entire economy.”

Now here is a President that has grown Government by leaps and bounds since his inauguration, promoted Government takeover of industries, financial institutions, the health care system, and now trying to take over the energy industry. As for Wall Street, if the Federal employees had been doing their jobs and enforcing Regulations on the books, instead of drinking coffee and surfing the Internet, we probably wouldn’t have had “nearly collapse of our entire economy”. Not to mention the Democrats promoting mortgage loans to persons who couldn’t afford them starting 3 decades ago.

Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth “When we don’t pay close attention to the decisions made by our leaders, when we fail to educate ourselves about the major issues of the day, when we choose not to make our voices and opinions heard, that’s when democracy breaks down,” Obama said.

Now he has said that the Tea Partiers should be thanking him instead of criticizing his policies, and of course his Administration and the on goings in Congress have had great TRANSPARENCY, not. He failed to mention that when they did make their voices heard he and his Congress cronies would call these people riff raff, hooligans, misfits, anti-American, etc.

And of course Obama has demonstrated great efforts at creating a BI-PARTISAN atmosphere in Congress, NOT. With his unstated, but highly implied, slogan “my way or the highway”! Obama is becoming famous for saying one thing and turning around and doing just the opposite when it suits his agenda.  And ya know I cannot think of one instance where it didn't suit his agenda.

Immigration Is Arizona Right

The only people who are against the Arizona illegal immigrant bill are those interested in having someone, themselves or others, in this country illegally. I am very sympathetic with Arizona in trying to control the entrance of illegal immigrants particularly when a percentage are criminals and threaten the citizens with lose of property and/or bodily harm. We live in a Republic of Laws and there are Federal laws on the books to address this but our Federal Government chooses not to enforce them. All citizens and registered legally resident non-citizens carry identification on them as a matter of safety and necessity. A law enforcement officer can request to see identification now if stopped and if you don't have it then you can be arrested or at least ticketed. If you try to cash a check or use a credit card you may, should, be asked for your ID. If a person is in an accident the ID helps to find family to notify.

The emotional statements about profiling or targeting an ethnic group are obviously made by persons that have ulterior motives relative to the enforcement of this law. There are many people in this great country from differing ethnic groups who work hard and make this country great. Millions have immigrated to America legally and obtained citizenship as allowed by law. America is a melting pot of the peoples of the World and through immigration is how this country was settled. But any rational individual knows that it is important to know who is in our country and if here illegally they should be returned to their home country. If they have committed a crime then they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

However, having said the above, we do need a process in place so that desirable (that is law abiding and productive) immigrants in this country already and employed or desiring to enter legally with verified employment waiting for them should be allowed to register and obtain a permit to be here and work. If on the other hand there is an illegal immigrant in America that is an unemployed adult then they should be returned to their home country. Also, don’t talk about legal or illegal immigrants taking jobs from American citizens. Now, as has been the case historically, immigrants to this country have traditionally have entered the job market taking the bottom-rung jobs (which established Americans generally didn’t want) and glad to have those jobs just to be in this Great Nation of ours. We cannot be against immigration, most of us are only a generation or so away from immigrant ancestors, we just need a way to control and enable foreign residents legally.

We do not have the resources to round up and export all people in this country illegally and AMNESTY is not the answer either. But I feel certain that most illegal immigrants in this country are honest, hard working, law abiding and would welcome the opportunity to register and come out into the open if our Government would enact a reasonable make sense law that would allow this. Then for what I feel is a small percentage of the “criminal element” here illegally, our law enforcement agencies could move to eradicate them from America.

The Liberal Left and Tea Party Participants

It is interesting to read the Liberal Left Democrat’s written response in the comment sections of Internet articles. It makes me realize how uninformed so many people are to think that high taxes, entitlement programs, and big government tyranny are good things, but I guess if your one on the recipients of the government give away programs; food stamp, welfare, etc. you'd be “barking” the party line also and criticizing the Americans, for exercising their Constitutional right to Freedom of Speech, who feel strongly enough about the Constitution and our freedoms to take time and go speak out against the travesties of this Liberal Left Administration and Liberal Left controlled Congress. But the Liberals think it’s OK for the Democrats to pay SEIU, ACORN and other similar groups to demonstrate for the Liberal Socialists cause.

I am amused at the hard line Democrats that follow blindly the “chirping” of the likes of Obama, Pelosi and Reid as they tout the Party line and their Socialist agenda. Every time I hear Obama say "let me be clear" I think of Wilson’s truthful comment in the Congress "you lie", and Obama did/has, many times. How true it is that the two go together, the Liberal Left and “you lie” that is.

I consider myself an independent, but when I was younger I was a democrat, because my parents were, and always voted democratic through my 20's. But the Democratic Party has evolved and drifted to the far Left, the Liberal Left, and should be renamed the Socialists Party because they don't care about working Americans anymore they just believe in entitlement programs and this is an un-American "spread the wealth" philosophy. Just read the Democratic Party platform and you'll think you’re in the Soviet Union before the breakup, if you've ever read Carl Marx that is.

America is great because it is the only place on this planet where, currently that is, an individual can apply his intellect and skills coupled with hard work, take personal risks, and if successful increase his financial position and keep most of it. But if we give these slackers in Congress driven and controlled by the Liberal Left more time and that dream will vanish from the face of the earth along with our individual rights and freedoms. The Liberal Left has already made giant steps toward this end.

Tea Party participants are centered in the middle class in terms of education (97% have high school education, 34% some college, 16% a degree, 12% graduate degrees) and income (50% above and 50% below the $50,000 income) and age with 34% in the 30-50 age group, seniors only make up 21% while young people under 30 make up 16%.   (USA Today/Gallup, March 2628, 2010)

Obama stated Apr 17 in Miami FL that Tea Partiers should be saying “thank you” instead of protesting. Do you suppose he means to him, because he and his Liberal Left cronies haven’t done anything but waste Billions of our tax dollars furthering their un-American agenda and paying political favors, and made major strides at severely damaging America. He is an egocentric arrogant opportunists who shouldn’t be allowed to live in America, deport the illegal immigrant and send him back to Kenya, much less in the White House, that we built.

Deficit: If Your Serious Then Start Here

Starting with the current budget year, that’s 2010 and do the following. And MAKE IT CLEAR, as the President likes to say, that internal departmental adjustments to accommodate these rollbacks are to be made in the best interest of the American taxpayer not the Department or included personnel.

Start by zeroing out ALL EARMARKS and PORK BARREL spending (about $8 Billion), current and past, all funding for these that are not “out of the barn” yet. There may be some good programs in there but if so then they can come before Congress in an Appropriations Bill (within BUDGET) in the Light of Day and stand up to the scrutiny of Congress and the American public (not hidden in the back pages or fine print).

Cut all Governmental Departmental Budgets OUTLAYS to 2007 levels except the following:

-         Leave the Defense Dept, Veteran Affairs, Social Security (with no COLA), and Medicare (except start saving the $10s of Billions the Federal Government admits it is currently loosing due to waste fraud and abuse) at current level.

-         Maintain 2010 Budget level for Medicaid

-         Maintain Unemployment benefits

-         Maintain any Home Mortgage assistance programs for “primary residence” only

-         Cut Homeland Security to 2009 level.

-         Cut the EPA Dept to 2004 level.

-         Cut the Energy Dept and Community Service to 2003 level, and that’s probably to high.

-         Cut the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Education, Labor, Transportation, and Treasury budgets to 2006 level.

-         Cut Legislative budgets to 2007 levels, salaries included, Federal salaries have grown to 10-15% greater than private sector, that’s taking money out of one pocket and putting it in the other.

-         Cut the Executive Branch and Departments of Health & Human Resources, Housing & Urban Development, Interior, Justice, and State budgets to 2007 levels and reduce Executive Branch employees (FTE) to 2007 level.

-         Cut Foreign Aid to 2006 levels.
-    Freeze all Federal hiring and through retirements and normal attrition reduce the Federal employees by 15% from todays numbers.  If a Department feels it must hire for specific talent then it will have to reduce equivalent number elsewhere.

This will get us closer to breakeven for planned Outlays vs Receipts, but make all Departments aware that they cannot exceed their budgets or heads will roll starting at the top. That goes for Congress also! But if this doesn’t get us there then cut more out of Departmental Discretionary Budgets!

And yes I went through the 2010 Obama budget, which includes a deficit that is 300% of Bush’s highest deficit budget, and Obama’s 2011 budget is worse. People had better start paying attention.

What Do You Want from Your National Government?

This is a question all of us should ask before and during the decision making process for casting our VOTE. There are many issues and nearly all have far reaching implications, not only for us but also for our grandchildren and their children. Yes that right, actions taken in the next 4 year will affect American’s lives for decades to come.

Just as Ronald Reagan's and Bill Clinton's decisions have impacted our lives since they were made, so will decisions made by George Bush and our next president whoever that will be. But be sure, you and I will decide that and live with the decision for at least 4, more likely 8 years. And our grandchildren and their children will continue to feel the impact of these decisions.

For me there are two paramount most important areas of utmost concern for us, and the next generation. These are:

-                     the unabated growth Federal Government Entitlement and/or social programs, including Social Security and Medicare, and

-                     insuring a strong National Defense in conjunction with how we deal with threats to our way of life.

Don’t be naive and think that either one of these has a simple solution or that our government will do the right thing. Both are complex and require our input to make our representatives ware of what is important to us. And if our representatives ignore us then we need to find a new representative.

In fiscal year 2007, which ended the end of Sept 2007, our Government spent $3,157.3 Trillion against an income from taxes and other revenues of $2,657.3 Trillion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_budget#Mandatory_Spending_and_Entitlements

Right now entitlement programs threaten to:

-                     bankrupt our government or

-                     there will have to be significant reductions in benefits provided or

-                     increase taxes on those with taxable income (includes retirees who made the effort and sacrifice to prepare for retirement) to continue benefits unmodified.

The Democratic Party Policy calls for $300 Billion in additional spending per year for social programs. This is over and above the Billions we’re already spending on social programs. Where will we get the money?

The 2008 Budget breaks down at follows: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_budget,_2008)

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP                            41.5%

            Interest on National Debt                                                                  9.0%

Unemployment, Welfare and other Mandatory Spending                 11.2%

Federal Government and related Departments (except Defense)      16.7%

            Department of Defense                                                                   16.6%

War on Terrorism (including IRAQ & Afghanistan)                           5.0%

The first two items will grow in the future as our Population Ages and out National Debt gets larger. Within the Federal Government line are many items such as the Farm Bill of 2008 in the Dept of Agriculture along with many expenditures for “earmarks” and “pork barrel”.

Estimated receipts for fiscal year 2008 were $2.66 trillion.

We as Americans need to ensure the Federal Policies, including Fiscal Policy and Budget Management, is going in the direction we want.

What do you want from your President? Consider this.

John McCain:

http://www.issues2000.org/John_McCain.htm

Traits/Positions for Consideration:

-         Veteran, served his country, knows the military, and that’s important for a commander-in-chief, has experience in government and military to deal with today’s tense world situations.

-         Extensive service in the Senate, years of experience in government affairs and foreign policy

-         In favor of drilling for domestic oil except ANWR, developing our resources will make us less susceptible to our enemies who we now have to buy their oil.

-         Will promote alternative fuels to replace oil in our economy, but this take time to develop and we need our oil for the interium.

-         Taxes: will maintain existing tax cuts and does not want any new taxes, this is the best medicine for our economy

-         Will keep military and defense strong in these times of many threats to America

-         No new entitlement (give away my tax dollars) programs, give away programs have proven in the past many times to be a drag on the economy, and a burden to the taxpayer

-         Wants to eliminate “earmarks” (another sneaky means of give away my tax dollars) in legislative bills

-         Is a proponent of nuclear power and other non-carbon based power sources, most other industrialized nations derive the majority of their electrical power from nuclear power plants, why can’t we?

-         Through his years, experience and knowledge of the world has the wisdom to make decision in the best interest of America

-         Would be tough on terrorists, radical groups in the world are determined to destroy America and other western societies.

-         Wants a market-based healthcare for America, which will promote individually selectable healthcare choices, thereby control cost growth and reduce dependence on tax dollars. Also, avoid the disastrous pitfalls of socialized medicine experienced by other countries that have tried socialized healthcare.

-         Age, is a consideration, although President Reagan was 70 when he took office & served 8 years in the White House.    And you must agree that a presidential candidate with an extra 15 or 20 years of practical experience over his opponent has an irreplaceable advantage. With that experience comes greater wisdom, better judgment and fewer serious mistakes, particularly in the critically complex and dangerous decisions involving national security and foreign policy. VP pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin brings to the ticket an energetic successful accomplished Governor, also headed up Alaska’s Energy and Resource Commission, was a Mayor, and ran a small business, among other experience. As Governor had to executed budgets, pull factions together, compromise on tough issues and sat in the chair where the “buck stops here”.

-         Pro life, which, if established, would take the option of abortion away from women of unwanted pregnancies pushing them toward unsafe options. Pro-choice has been law since 1972 and challenged many times. Just because of a position, does not mean it will happen. There are many much larger real problems and issues to deal with.

-

Barack Hussein Obama:

http://www.issues2000.org/Barack_Obama.htm

Traits/Positions for Consideration:

-         Age, youthful and energetic, but thin on experience applicable for Presidency.

-         A very charismatic evangelistic style speaker, can lull many people to a false sense of security, righteousness, and purpose that can lead to personal/economic disaster; ‘danger, danger Will Robinson’. Yet, as has been evidenced, when Obama is without a teleprompter his oration becomes jumbled and incoherent, what does this mean? And even at the convention he couldn’t offer up 1 accomplishment fitting of a Presidential Candidate! Furthermore, after 2 years of campaigning for the DNC nomination, we still know nothing about the real Barrack Hussein Obama!

From O’Rielly interview: “Obama is convinced that the federal government should be in control of income distribution and, to some extent, should regulate the free marketplace. That is a classic liberal position and he promotes it well. The senator also believes that poor Americans have a basic right to free health care and monetary supplements from the government with no strings attached. The American substance abuser, for example, would derive the same benefits, as would a hard-working, laid-off worker, again classic liberalism.”

What we do know and don’t know:

-         Inexperienced, only 143 working days as a Senator, most of which spent pursuing a new position, becoming the Presidential candidate, no legislation or accomplishment associated with governmental experience, was an Illinois Senator during which he voted Present 135 times, no creditable experience in foreign policy, apparently indecisive with continuing issue position changes, perhaps that’s why he voted Present so many times.   Senator Biden doesn't believe that Senator Obama is ready to serve as president. When asked about Senator Obama's lack of experience he said, "The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

-         Questionable or unknown impact of relationships and influences from radical, anti-American persons/groups, which he has had lengthy relationships, such as: Rev Jeremiah Wright (Obama family radical pastor), William Ayers & Bernadine Dohrn (of the Weathermen, domestic terrorists, founded in 1969, an American radical left organization, helped kit off Obama’s initial senate race), Frank Marshall Davis (professed communists & suspected of un-American activities with the Soviets), Stokley Carmichael (a Marxist revolutionist), Tony Rezko (convicted influence peddler), Rashid Khalidi (pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli), and there are more. How do they play into Obama’s plans?

-         Against drilling for and development of domestic oil reserves, this will keep us dependent on foreign oil from countries of which many are not our friends

-         A proponent of ethanol made from corn, which drives up foods cost and ethanol costs more per gallon, when you compare energy content, vs. gasoline. Ignores more viable fuel alternatives such as natural gas and the infinitely renewable hydrogen fuel, both of which are more environmentally friendly.

-         Against development of our oil reserves to reduce level of dependency on foreign oil, he sponsored Senate Bill S.115, which would make it illegal to even perform exploration to evaluate our true oil reserves around out coastline.

-         Jobs and wage policy will lead to higher built-in growth in inflation, which is not good for retirees, business or low-end wage earners. Advocates unionization of labor, which has a negative impact on initiative and personal growth.

-         Pro-Taxation: will let tax cuts expire (which will impact everyone who pays taxes now), wants to increase taxes more, remove social security income cap, increase the tax on any inheritance you might get (even though that money has been taxed many times already), tax your IRA/401K/ROTH at a higher rate when you withdraw it and initiate other taxes to pay for $300 Billion++ in new entitlement programs added to current budget.

-         Has stated will slash military spending incorrectly thinking that diplomacy will work (Israel and Palestine have been trying diplomacy for 50 years, observe the situation, there are many other examples) this will make America vulnerable to attacks from enemies and much less effective in the pursuit of world peace and order. He has already identified the military programs he’ll go after to cut.

-         Foreign policy, naive as to the workings of the world, his statements are out of step with our allies and instep with our enemies, pull the troops home and let terrorists fester abroad will sooner or later make their way here

-         Would be soft on terrorists, from his spoken words he would use diplomacy to address issues, he will talk to them while they blow us up.

-         Wants a National Healthcare System run by the Federal Gov that will be a sink hole for tax dollars and cost the taxpayers Billions of Dollars and lead to poor quality medical services. Universal healthcare has not worked in other countries that have it, do the research (Canada, U.K., France, Germany) and see I’m right. Creates large deficits, long lines at medial facilities and degrades treatment quality, as evidenced in the above-mentioned countries.

-         Does not support the most readily available environmentally friendly power generation, nuclear power. Many other countries derive most of their electrical power from nuclear (France, Belgium, Lithuania, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary to name a few) and they recycle their nuclear waste, why can’t we

-         Has stated/written that he supports reparation payments to black Americans (ancestors of slaves) not necessarily in cash but in federal programs that favors black Americans (ignoring all other ethnic groups?), indirect payments such as free tuition, healthcare, jobs programs, etc. This is paid for by our tax dollars! We already have this in Washington, D.C.; observe how inefficient our federal government is.

-         Obama is “sold on himself”, egocentric, so he cannot see his shortcomings and inadequacies, this is not unusual for people in his position, but for him it’s a fetish and that would result in flippant decisions dangerous for America

-         Wants sweeping change (?), what is that, does anyone know, are you sure you want whatever Obama means by sweeping changes, I don’t like unknowns

And of course with Obama comes 4 more years of having to see/hear from Nancy Pelosi

Obama Notes:

-         Michelle Obama’s downbeat attitude on America, as expressed on several occasions, may well have it’s roots in their association with their minister Rev Jeremiah Wright who conducted the Obama’s wedding ceremony, baptized their daughters, and has been caught on video screaming “God D___ America”. It is difficult to swallow her views of America as a mean-spirited country from a woman who has been given so many opportunities and garnered a high economic status and standard of living. Is this who we want redoing the White House?

-         Barack Hussein Obama Sr., Obama’s father who died when Obama was 24 years old, was a Harvard educated economists who adopted socialism and Marxist Doctrune as his prefered governmental model. He was a Nairobi bureaucrat advisor to the pro-Western Kenyan government and preached redistribution of wealth through taxation. His outspoken socialist mindset influenced Obama during his formative years. Writing in a 1965 scholarly paper, Obama’s late father slammed the administration of then President Jomo Kenyatta for moving the Third World country away from socialism toward capitalism. He chafed at the idea of relying on private investors, who earn “dividends” on their venture capital, to develop the country’s fledgling economy. He professed that he did not see why the government cannot tax to the extent necessary those who have more to fund social programs for those who have less.

The Democratic Party Needs a Wakeup Call!

Whether you agree with me or not, please do yourself a favor and read through the following that is well documented. I am an independent voter and evaluate the issues and vote for candidates that are best for America. I cannot vote for a Democratic nominee at any level of government at this time that adopts the current Party line because the Party has strayed from looking after American interests and needs to be given a wakeup call. This is evidenced, in part, by the items below and reiterated in the Democratic Party Platform for the 2008 Convention that provides policy guidance for the next 4 years. Furthermore, the current Democratic controlled Congress has been the most unproductive in 3 decades, stonewalling and playing party politics on important issues affecting American’s everyday lives.

The Democratic Party needs a wakeup call for:

-         CREATING the CREDIT CRISIS. The Democratic Party created the current Credit Crisis that has resulted in the expansion of the housing bubble followed by the housing decline, when it burst, creating havoc with the banking and mortgage lending industry. This was set in motion by the Community Reinvestment Actpassed in 1977 created by Jimmy Carter and the Democratic controlled congress, later in 1995 expanded by Bill Clinton and the then Democratic congress. The Act requires lending institutions to make loans (mortgages) to individuals that would not normally qualify, with implied restrictions against institutions that did not comply applied by Government Regulatory Agencies. This gave Federal blessing (and requirement) to risky loans and the Act should be grossly modified if not repealed.

-         KEEPING AMERICA DEPENDENT on FOREIGN OIL. The Democratic Party is responsible for our level of dependency on foreign oil; we have to import 80% of our oil and 11% of our gasoline. The Democrats have managed to hold their moratorium on domestic exploration, development, and drilling and new refineries for three decades and still, in light of today’s oil issues, refuse to lift the moratorium. We should have been developing our oil reserves decades ago. Obama’s proposed Senate Bill S.115 makes it illegal to explore for oil around our coastline on the continental shelf. The largest oil companies in the World are foreign government owned; most of those governments are not our friends; by America not being in the oil production game, we are sending Billions of Dollars off shore, providing U.S. $ to petro-tyrants from Moscow to Tehran to Caracas to fund their activities to harass America and its allies! Not to mention leaving ourselves vulnerable to malicious restriction of oil supply. Drilling and developing America’s oil reserves would set off an economic boom and help pull the world out of the recession that falling global markets now seem to be signaling.

-         TAX & SPEND without regard to BUDGET DEFICIT. Under Obama leadership the Democratic Party will abandon their “pay-as-you-go” rhetoric to spend more, as they already did on the 2008 Farm Bill. This will grow our national deficit to historically high levels in the name of social reform and if they maintain control of the Congress and get the White House they will have a field day with spending money WE don’t have. The Washington Post reported (reprint in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette 8-11-2008) an analysis that showed Obama’s Tax Policy would swell the budget deficit and increase the tax burden on everyone except those who don’t pay any taxes at all, due to income level. We currently pay the first 5 months of income to taxes at one level or another, it seems the Democratic Party wants 6 months or more of our income to go to taxes. Many economists have stated that current and future, as outlined in the 2008 Party Platform, policies of the Democratic Party will certainly push our economy into a recession.

-         HIGH FOOD PRICES. The Democratic Party must shoulder part of the blame for rising food costs because of the support and subsidy of Ethanol production from corn. Germany quickly realized the impact this approach and the fallacy of turning food into fuel, with its resulting impact on food cost, and abruptly ceased all support for Ethanol from corn or any food crop. Corn is a major input factor in the food industry for feed, cereals, and other food products. Corn last year was $2.00 a bushel and, even with bumper corn crops, is $6.50 a bushel today. Even with these results the Democratic congress still has Fuel From Food as a big part of their planned energy package. The Democratic Party is apparently ignoring more rational choices of fuel for automobiles, such as natural gas or better yet hydrogen fuel, instead pushing higher cost and inefficient fuels.

-         HAS PUT PARTY POLITICS AHEAD OF AMERICA. Senator Joe Lieberman, a popular democrat, left the Democratic Party because the party put political gain ahead of America’s interests in decisions and policies.

-         THE BANNER OF SOCIALISM FLYING OVER THE PARTY. As documented in the Democratic Party platform, a 94-page document that lays out the Party direction for the next 4 years and establishes, among other social programs, a “Social Investment Fund Network”, a Barack Obama brainchild. This would create a government office to coordinate grants to “chosen groups” and “nonprofit efforts” providing a permanent taxpayer-funded pipeline to Democratic partisan outfits masquerading as public-interest do-gooders. This is nothing more than a smoke screen for redistribution of assets from those who pay taxes to those who don’t. The Democratic Party has been captured by the Far Left Liberal segments of the Party that are pushing the Party to extremes of Socialism that is not in any American’s interest and the Party needs a Wakeup Call to come back to America’s principles.

-         THE FRAM BILL of 2008. The Democratic controlled Congress passed this bill into law over a Presidential Veto. It represents a massive tax dollar giveaway to farmers in the form of crop subsidies. The Democratic controlled Congress waived their “pay-as-you-go” rule to allow this Bill to go forward. It is one thing to provide subsidies for “family farms”, but to give these large subsidies to corporate farms that are making large profits is ludicrous. To qualify for subsidies farm income has to be below $750,000 or $500,000 from non-farm income. If your income is under $500,000 do you get a subsidy, I’ll bet not, you just get to pay taxes.

-         CHASING FANTASY ELECTRICAL POWER GENERATION: The Democrats are focusing on wind and solar for power generation. These are potential supplements to a power grid but what if the wind isn’t blowing and the day is overcast or it’s nighttime? You can’t store electrical power for a rainy day! You either use it or lose it when it’s generated. Many industrialized countries derive most of their electrical power from nuclear energy, recycling spent fuel rods. This is too big an issue to be focusing our tax dollars solely on a sometimes energy source.

-         AGAINST VOTERS RIGHTS to a SECRET BALLOT: Current law affords all workers the opportunity to vote by private ballot on whether or not to be represented by a union in their workplaces. This private ballot ensures that workers are able to make a choice without the undue influence of their union organizers, employers, colleagues and friends.  “The Employee Free Choice Act” (EFCA), interesting play on words, would supplant a worker’s right to a private vote with of a public card check system in which paid union organizers persuade workers to sign cards indicating their agreement to union representation. These organizers would have the liberty to seek signatures anywhere and at any time, including showing up at workers’ homes. As soon as a simple majority (50%, plus one) of employees sign a union authorization card, EFCA would force the employer to immediately recognize the union for all workers—even those who did not sign authorization cards.  The Democratic Party supports this travesty against voter’s rights. What’s next; have voting in National elections made public? I personally experienced union organization when in high school working part time. That experience convinced me that unions represent themselves first and the employee last. As a result of that experience I decided that union representation was a workers best interests in this day of Government oversight of workplace issues.

The American people need to ensure themselves that they really understand and want the Democratic Party policy if they are going to vote this Party line, because I’ll guarantee you it’s bad for those of us who pay taxes, it’s bad for individual lifestyles, and it’s bad for the economy.

This country was built on and has become great because of entrepreneurs and capitalism. Immigrants have come to this country for centuries to escape tyranny, socialism, anarchy and oppressive societies. They came here and, along with fellow American’s, helped grow this country because they had/have a chance to expend their energy and skills, and apply their knowledge to improve their lives, grow the country and give something back, and in some cases sacrifice their (or their descendants) lives to preserve the American dream.

The problem is the Democratic Party seems to be heading in a direction that wants you to give it all back, a state run society fraught with redistribution of wealth. And I don’t mean redistribution from only the very rich; it’s from anyone who earns enough to pay taxes!

Is that “change” and is that the “change” you want?
